My Richard III Tour and Sunne in Splendour
I have a new blog up with information for my British readers about my Richard III tour. And I could not resist talking a bit about Sunne's exciting rebirth in hardcover come September.

I wish I could join you on your Richard III tour. It's been a long time since I was in northern England. I first became interested in the Ricardian question when I read some of the pamphlets I bought in York. Now, the question that all your American friends are asking: Are you doing a USA tour? Do you know when and where you'll be going? I hope you can visit us in Flyover Country (northern Midwest).

Steven, I will be doing a book tour for Ransom when it comes out in February. Unfortunately, I do not get any say as to where they send me. I suspect they think writers would all elect to do book tours in Hawaii. I used to do coast-to-coast tours, but publishers are less and less inclined to send writers out on the road in the age of the internet and they are more inclined to opt for regional tours. For Lionheart, they sent me to PA, NJ, Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, and Arizona, which has one of the world's best bookshops in the Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale. It sometimes helps if readers write and ask for a writer to make an appearance. A woman in FLA was so persistent that they scheduled a Palm Beach reading because of her zeal!
No California??? I thought I would get the chance to see you at Book Passage again.
They have not sent me to California in quite a while, Margali, much to my disappointment. Book Passage is one of my all-time favorite bookstores. There is always hope, but I fear the day may come when book tours are a thing of the past, and that would be a shame, both for writers and readers. As wonderful as it is to be able to interact on the Internet, that is not the same as a face to face encounter.
I do live in England and would really have loved to be one of the lucky ones who get to meet you Sharon. However, distance, cost as a pensioner and ill health; prevent me from being able to do this. However I WILL be buying the new and revised hard back of your "Sunne in Splendour" I'm really excited about doing so too. My old paper back copy has been read so many times over the years it is quite tired looking."Here be Dragons" is looking very much the same.... My two most favourite of all of your books.How right you are! Interacting on the Internet is not the same as a face to face encounter. It is a sad thought that book tours may become a thing of the past. I have a Kindle Fire bought for me last Christmas but I will always prefer the experience of reading a "real" book. To be present at a book signing must be a such a brilliant experience.

I love to meet readers, Leila. Where do you live? After the Richard III Tour, I am going to be doing a few book signings for Sunne; one for sure is at Bosworth Field. And I might be doing a book tour for A King's Ransom next spring.
I live in the North East of England on the coast, a few miles along from Whitby of Dracula fame and not that far from Middleham Castle actually, about an hour or so by car. I'm thinking that will be quite a distance from where you will be, but you never know. Have a great tour and a great day too xxLeila
I've been to Whitby, Leila, and Robin Hood's Bay. A very dramatic part of the country. We'll be in York and Middleham for the Richard III Tour, of course, and I am looking forward to it, for York is my favorite English city. I was lucky enough to live there for a while. I hope my publisher will be able to arrange a book signing there, too, for the new Sunne.
Sharon, when we were in York the Minster Gate Bookshop stocked your books and staff spoke highly of your writing. Right outside the Minster, might be worth popping in! Of course you're spoilt for choice when it comes to independent bookshops in York, as there are so many nice ones.

Happily, I'm travelling with Sharon on the R3 tour in September. I hope to purchase a hardcopy Sunne to have it autographed. I've been reading up for the trip and can't wait. Sharon, I've connected with Peter at the Battlefields Trust and we're planning a St. Albans excursion on 9/16 or 17. What fun!!!
Sounds wonderful, Rosemary. My publisher is going to have copies of the new Sunne on hand at our dinner at Barley Hall in York; I think that will be on the 10th. The great thing about my Eleanor tour was that we had so much in common--a love of history and books and Eleanor, of course--so we became friends very quickly. I am sure this will happen again on our Richard tour. I'm looking forward to it very much. Have you seen St Albans before? It is beautiful.

Just finished Rhoda Edwards and Bertram Fields books about Richard. Rhoda's book was outstanding! Am now reading Ashdown-Hill's latest on the last days of R3 and the fate of his DNA. You've turned me into a junkie!
You're in good company, Stephanie. It still surprises me that there are so many people so fascinated by Richard, more than five centuries after his death. I am sure Tudor never bargained on that!
