Launching the Charles W. Morgan

On Sunday July 21, I was at Mystic Seaport for the launching of the newly restored Charles W.Morgan, America’s only surviving nineteenth century whaleship. This photo was taken at the moment of impact as a christening bottle containing waters from all the seas upon which the Morgan ever sailed was bashed against the bow.
