Some writers try very hard to separate their “writer self” from their “real self” and to some extent I can absolutely agree that it can be very beneficial to do so. For example, if you look at the recent explosion of bad press surrounding Orson Scott Card and the film version of Ender’s Game, you will find that it all leads back to his vehement opposition of equality for homosexuals. There’s talk of a major boycott of the film based on Card’s (oft, and loudly voiced) thoughts on the subject.
