Oh Holly, Stop Filling Your Own Boots and Give Others a Hand

Holly Willoughby-1753437On no, it’s happened again. Another ‘celebrity’ writer, who’s probably written very little in her life before, has launched a series of children’s books.

Holly Willoughby, the very upfront UK presenter of all things shallow and dumbed down, has joined forces with her equally talented sister to inflict her skills upon the unsuspecting pool of readers that we poor, impoverished self-published writers rely so heavily upon.

Now call me a cynic, but I’ll lay odds that her books, whether any good or not, will sell very nicely thank you. They should do because they’ve already been exposed to millions of viewers of various TV breakfast and chat shows. It’s quite a little club that they have going.

I apologise for spitting out vitriol like a geriatric, poisonous adder, but there’s something about this that seems a bit unfair.

Every time one of these well known and well off stars decides to become a ‘writer’ and cash in on a reputation that does not extend to any literary achievement whatsoever, I break out into a nasty rash.

I spend most of my waking hours promoting impoverished self published authors and feel as if we have once more been dumped on from a great height.Wouldn’t it be nice if Holly and the many, many others who have decided to cash in on their name, gave just a little nudge up the ladder to real aspiring authors, instead of continually feathering their own substantial nests.

Oh well, rant over, happy reading – but be careful what you buy
