A lesson in respect from a lady on a plane

Last year, I was preparing to debark the plane at our destination when an elderly lady already standing in the aisle turned around to speak to the young man in full army fatigues behind her.

“Thank you for your service,” she told him.

The young man blushed a little, nodded, and replied. “You’re welcome, ma’am.”

The brief exchange warmed my heart and reminded me to give thanks more often (and in person, when possible) to the men and women of our country who serve on our behalf.
