I’m thinking of Thomas Jefferson sitting at a desk with a pen and a blank piece of paper, touching that pen to the paper, and starting a country. We remember the guns and the battles, but the pen made us who we are, the pen lit the fire that still burns. We weren’t America until someone wrote it down.
