Tao Te Ching 25: Undefined yet perfect

Before the universe was born

there was something undefined yet perfect.

It stands alone and empty.

Silent, boundless and unchanging.

It is infinite and all-pervading..

Is is the mother of the universe.

Because I do not know its name,

I style it the ‘Tao’

and call it ‘the Great’.

Being Great, it is everywhere.

Being everywhere, it is eternal.

Being eternal means all things return to it.

Hence, the Tao is great.

The universe is great.

Earth is great.

Man is great.
