Pollygraph (interviews with romance authors): Ava Catori

A city girl goes country and loses her heart to a local boy. Only problem, she's heading back to the city.
Okay, it sounds good - have some more space and tell me more.
She didn't want to go to the country, but was sent there unexpectedly. She's lost her brother, her family is falling apart, and her college money is gone. Heading to live with her aunt, she's forced to adapt to a new life and people she barely knows. Just when she starts to get involved with someone, she realizes she'll be leaving soon.
How steamy does it get?
There are sex scenes, but I wouldn't call it erotic. I tried to use discretion and just give enough details to give you an idea - leaving the rest up to your imagination.
Do you have any more plans for Jenna and Benji, or is this a standalone novel?
Shady Cove is meant to be a series that revolves around a community. Her cousin, Grace, will get her own book, while the main characters and familiar town elements will be woven through each story. Jenna and Benji will get the book after that.
What makes a good romance novel for you?
I love a character driven story, so if there are characters I can relate to and it offers a lot of emotional pull, I'm drawn in. Sexual tension, that natural chemistry is always a nice component as well.
Shady Cove: New Girl in Town has been released as part of the Insatiable Reads Summer Tour. Which other IR authors should we look out for?
There are so many talented writers on the tour. I've read two of the books in preparation and each is a great read. You'll want to make sure you grab a copy of Dance for Me by Helena Newbury for instance.
Big city or small town, for you?
I live in suburbia, and am drawn to more rural settings in real life. I'm not a city girl. I know people love the vibe and energy, but I like the comfort of laid back and quiet.
What have you read recently?
I've been reading some humor and writing/craft books lately. I picked up a book on emotional impact in writing that I enjoyed, and I'm hoping to read the new Carl Hiaasen novel soon. Jennifer Cruise was probably my last romance read - I love a good romantic comedy.
What's next for you?
I'm currently working on a romantic comedy called "Running on Empty". I released another romantic comedy in the late spring, and found I really enjoyed writing it. I think you'll be seeing more of those from me in the future.
