How excited were you to write the Villains Month Batman the Dark Knight issue?

Very.

I am sure I’m going to get accused of being a shill or whatever, but the truth is, I am an unapologetic fan of crossovers. WHEN THEY ARE GOOD.

They offer a wonderful chance to connect the books, which is one of the reasons I like working in the DC and Marvel universes in the first place.

Great fun. If the crossover sucks, then the goal is to try to rise above it and make something great out of your part. If the crossover is overseen by a great writer, like Scott Snyder with the Court of Owls, then it’s just pure fun to write.

I love them. For me, it’s a part of my fanhood I have never outgrown. Editors often think all writers hate them, so they approach us with upcoming crossovers very delicately, but they are always something I look forward to. If it was up to me, I’d bring back the DC/Marvel crossovers immediately.

The key to a great crossover is a great idea in the first place. Too many are just the same story over and over. That is still fun, but a lot more challenging.

I can’t apologize for being a nerd.
