Importance of Feedback

Feedback for many of us is something negative. But feedback can be really useful for effective living.

1)  THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF FEEDBACK

Of course there is negative feedback and positive feedback. Positive feedback is really what everyone wants to hear. “You are doing well, just keep doing it and you will reach for the stars.” Such kind of feedback really helps a person and so they are able to do more with their life. But negative feedback can make a person miserable, if you are emotional then you certainly will be unhappy with the feedback, but don’t be. Negative feedback can help a person do something about his life. Hard reality will be shown to him by feedback.

2)  ON COURSE, OFF COURSE,

Feedback can tell two things. One, it can tell whether you are on course or off course. This can be really helpful. If you receive a feedback and it says that you are on course then you can continue with the same plan, but if you receive an off course feedback then it is time to think about you current plan and change it accordingly.

3)  WAYS OF RESPONDING TO FEEDBACK

THAT DON’T WORK

First of all there are many ways of responding.

A)   Caving in and quitting

This is very simple. If you don’t like the feedback and you are emotionally challenged , then you are certainly going to cave in and quit.

B)   Getting mad at the source of the feedback

Another way to respond is to get really mad at feedback. Sometimes, we don’t want a particular person to say anything to us, and so we ,get really mad at them even if they give us a positive feedback.

c) Ignoring the feedback

Another way is to simply ignore the feedback and do nothing about it. This is very common practice.

4)  ASK FOR FEEDBACK

Always ask for feedback. “Say in a scale of 1 to 10 how is our relationship?” You can ask that to your wife. And she will give you a number and you can work on it. This method can be used in every situation. Whether it is relationship or your health you can ask this question.
