Why do I write? Just read this letter ...

I received the highest honour an author can possibly get this week: a letter from an educational assistant telling me that one of her grade 5 students read his first book this winter.

And it was a book written by me.

Then he read the rest of my books.

Then ... he wrote his OWN book.

Really touched and very, very honoured. What higher praise can an author possibly want or receive? I'm very lucky indeed.

Here's a link to the whole letter on my other blog: http://phdowding.blogspot.ca/2013/06/...

Philippa Dowding Hi Monica, thank you so much for the kind words. I was really deeply touched by the letter from M and D, that just doesn't happen very often, and you're right, it's very encouraging. I can't really think of any higher praise. I can still remember the full body joy I felt when I finished reading my first book, Charlotte's Web, and D's experience brought it back. Very very lucky indeed!
