The Summer Queen

The deadline dragon is right behind me, so I only have a moment until I feel his hot breath on the back of my neck. I just wanted to remind everyone that Elizabeth Chadwick’s new novel, The Summer Queen, the first volume in her trilogy about Eleanor of Aquitaine, is now out. Here is the link to Amazon.com.uk. I thought it was coming out today in the US, too, but the Amazon mother ship was only offering it from third-party sellers last night—very puzzling. But until that gets straightened out, you can buy it from Amazon.com.uk or from Book Depository, which ships worldwide free of charge. Now my hair is starting to scorch, so I’m away.

Charlene Added to my "want-to-read" list. Eleanor is one of my favorite people, and it's through you & Elizabeth that I can step back in time and feel like I know her.

David Elkin So many books, so little time. I also am heavy into historical computer and board gaming, so that takes time as well. I have not found a book that Sharon has written not worth every moment spent reading. I just need her to be around another 50 years and start writing about "Bad Popes"! Rebecca, thanks for the recommendation

Rebecca Hill I have read everything she has written so far and not disappointed in the least!!

Rebecca I think the main thing that I enjoy about Sharon's writing is she makes all her historical figures approachable and real. There were times I wanted to shake Henry II in his obtuseness(concerning his family) and his need to control every person and situation in his life and kingdom. Then there is Eleanor's rightful place not just as Henry's wife but as a woman who was a Ruler in her own right. Who can blame her for fighting back?...Though the way she did it had me shaking my head. I could go on but as SKP readers, you get my gist. But I also appreciate the research that Sharon does and the knowledge that you can trust her body of work; she is meticulous and that must take a lot of time and hard work, but in the end it pays off and we the reader's gain the opportunity for a really good read with the knowledge that with this particular writer, we are in safe hands.

I'm also very much looking forward to the updated Sunne in Splendour-I shall be pre-ordering that one!
