The Clans of Kalquor and Clan Beginnings – Never the Twain Shall Meet

A lot of you have been enjoying the gay erotic stories of the Clan Beginnings series. The responses to To Clan and Conquer and Clan and Conviction have been overwhelmingly positive. I am thrilled to know you delight in the early stories of the clans. But with every success comes a problem or two often unforeseen. From the emails and comments I’ve been getting, I have just such a problem on my hands. There are quite a few of you who wish to see the man love so central to the Clan Beginnings series spill over into the Clans of Kalquor series. Some have even complained that Alien Refuge, the first Clans of Kalquor book following To Clan and Conquer, did not go into heavier intimacies between the men.
As far as having the men get hot and heavy with each other in the Clans of Kalquor series, I’m going to be blunt about the matter here: it’s not going to happen.
Now before any of you kick and scream, allow me to explain. A substantially large number of my readers are not into gay erotica. They adore the Kalquorians, but they also have absolutely no interest in reading about men making love with men. I understand and respect that. Man-love fiction is not for everyone, and it usually has nothing to do with homophobia. Gay erotica simply doesn’t do it for some readers.
For my beloved FoKs who only enjoy sex scenes featuring males with a female, fear not. The original Clans of Kalquor series will go no farther than the little hints of man-on-man such as what you’ve seen in the previous books. For those of you who have been clamoring for the boys to be more intimate in that series, please understand that I have a mortgage and bills to pay and I am not going to ostracize a large portion of my readership for the minority. The Clans of Kalquor series is my bread and butter, and I am not going to screw that up. Besides, I myself enjoy seeing the heroine being the focus of a clan’s adoration. We women should be the center of the universe. ;)
That being said, the books outside of the original series are another matter entirely. Obviously, the Clan Beginnings series consists almost exclusively of men loving men. Ditto for the upcoming Companions books, which will feature Earther men seduced by Kalquorian men. I personally love gay erotica, and I am delighted to keep writing it as much as possible.
There is more. My plans for the book that will feature Dramok Sojan (from Alien Interludes’ ‘Prelude to Redemption’) include healthy helpings of both male/female and male/male interactions. Several books are being tentatively planned for the time period of the Kalquor/Earth War and the post-Armageddon rescue efforts. These books could also include bisexual interactions. And for a really different walk on the wild side, Michaela and Clan Korkla are getting their own book ... you will remember Michaela is intersex (a hermaphrodite), so that will be a most interesting foray into taboo eroticism.
There is something for everyone in the Kalquorian universe. Obviously, I cannot write a single book that will please every individual who reads it. All I can do is write the books that come from my heart and soul. I like the original series as it has played out so far and will keep it going in the same way without apology. Ditto for the Clan Beginnings books. If you wish to leave less than stellar reviews because there isn’t enough man love or there is too much man love, that’s your call. I’ve quit reading reviews anyway because I’m no longer going to beat myself up for not meeting every person’s expectations. If I did, I couldn’t keep writing.
Sweeties, I know you’ve got a lot invested in Kalquor because you tell me you do. I’m elated that you are swept away in this universe. However, I must reiterate ... I have to write the books that speak to me. You may not always like where I go with my stories, but that is the nature of the beast. Just because a particular book is not telling the story as you would like to read it does not mean others aren’t enjoying it. It doesn’t mean I didn’t spend gallons of blood, sweat, and tears on it. It simply means it wasn’t the story for you.
So there you have it. The Clans of Kalquor series remains m/f/m/m with the focus on heterosexual sex. Clan Beginnings is all about men enjoying intimate relationships with men. They will remain separate entities as far as that is concerned for the foreseeable future. I hope you continue to enjoy the ride.
Much love, my hot and crazy FoKs.
