There’s something of an exclusive extra courtesy of BBC News South East to compliment the recent release on DVD of the Third Doctor classic, The Mind of Evil.
Katy Manning, who played Jo Grant from 1971 to 1973, has visited Dover Castle with the news team for the first time in 40 years to talk about her time on the show and specifically the filming of this recently restored to colour adventure that’s only existed in black and white up until now.
Manning talks about her and Third Doctor actor Jon Pertwee’s interest in the castle when they were filming as well as what they would get up to together in their spare time between shooting (nothing saucy, mind you), her sadness that Pertwee could not be with her to revisit the castle itself and also the filming of the serial which manning describes as ‘full on’.
Dover Castle doubled up for a prison in The Mind of Evil and is revisited by actor Nicholas Courtney, who played Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart, and former Doctor Who producer Barry Letts in a documentary as part of the DVD release. This additional mini feature with Manning will be something that fans of the recent release will want to take a look at.
Out Now on DVD, The Mind Of Evil is just £13.29 on Amazon! Check our review to find out more!
