Progress. It's what's for breakfast.
Nothing finer than a heavy box of my own books arriving at my door, especially when half of them are already sold! I'm feeling supercharged, excited, and ready to roar today. I'm excitedly scheduling fall events for scary readings and making list after list to organize the targets I have in mind.I have been self employed for seven years, and it took me til today to realize that being self employed is something I'm good at, and doing something different - writing full time - is going to be okay. I love children, and I will always be involved in the lives of children, but I have been working for over fifty five hours a week with children for a very long time, and it's time to grasp the string on that balloon and fly away into my dream. I know there are kids there, too.
Several years ago, I had a boss who placed her dirty lunch dishes into her outbox for me to "file". That day, I swore off working with and for adults. I got a BA in English and Education (I was serious!) and I began teaching children and writing on the side. Teaching took over, and somehow, I wrote that book at nap time over five years. I have realized now that I love writing for children, and that is how I am going to make peace with this. I am not abandoning working with children, and I am going to again attempt to work with adults, even though there will always be one in the crowd who thinks their lunch dishes should be filed by someone else. That's okay. I'm ready to speak up this time. :) Continuing today in making steps and progress towards this change. What are you doing to create progres
