I’m a fiction writer which means there’s one thing I’ve never had – a nice, orderly office. I’ve had large rooms, beautiful desks, a ton of filing cabinets, but at the end of the day my office is always a complete disaster. Most fiction writers have messy offices. I think the chaos helps the creative process in some weird way. Yesterday, though, I snapped. I decided that for the first time in my life I’d have a clean, organized office. Now, apart from my own chaos, my office is also the dumping ground for everything in the house we don’t know what to do with or have to shove in a corner when guests are coming over.
After SIX hours of labor yesterday I realized that this was going to be a huge multi-day job. That’s when I decided to chronicle it. So, join me as I seek to create a space just for me that is beautiful and functional and still creative. I’m sharing pictures as well so you can marvel at or bemoan my progress. Remember, the pictures below were taken after I’d already spent six hours working on the room.
