I received the letter below from a friend recently. I talks about he and his wife’s decision to downsize. Check it out:
Will,
I wanted to give you an update on our household. We have decided to sell our home and move to a much smaller home in the same neighborhood. The home we are buying is one of the smallest in the neighborhood. We felt like our current home was holding us back in wanting to do more for the Kingdom. As a family we want to give more to the Kingdom and participate in more mission trips. We aren’t using a 1/3 of our home and we have way too much stuff (two TV’s, refrigerators, ovens, etc.). It has been a peaceful, freeing feeling to know that we are going to reduce our overhead substantially.
We have been thinking about it for some time but finally decided to make the change. The sermons over the past few months have played a big part in our decision. The trip to Nicaragua has also factored into our decision. The joy and peace that the men and women expressed in Nicaragua was an eye opening experience. I have seen this before on other trips but the most recent one hit home more than most.
Anyways, we do appreciate your support and guidance so thought you would be interested in our next adventure. Last, I don’t want to be the rich young ruler.
Have you started Moving Toward Enough yet? Maybe it’s time.
