A question for romance readers on adding another point of view later on in a series.

So I'm working on the final book in my series, The Alpha Group, and I'm tossing up a big decision.

For those that haven't read it, to give a little background, it's a trilogy, and the first two books were told in first person from the heroine's perspective. At the outset, I considered writing it with dual perspectives, since I think my hero is fascinating and would be a great POV character, but a lot of the story revolves around the mystery of his identity, and at the time I didn't think I could do it without giving too much away.

But in the final book, that's not much of a problem. Most of his secrets are revealed early. I've been thinking about it over the last few weeks, and the more I think, the more I'd love to finally give my readers a look inside Sebastian's head. I think it would add a lot of depth to their relationship, and would enhance certain other elements of the plot.

But of course, I haven't done any switching in the first two parts. So my question to you is, would this bother you? I'm not planning on changing every chapter or anything; a handful of well marked switches that last several chapters is what it would be. Think the switches in Falling into You. Would you find that sudden introduction jarring?

A lot of my readers have said they'd love to finally see things from Sebastian's perspective, but I wanted a few more opinions anyway.

Thanks!

Janey I have read the first 2 in this trilogy, and found #2 even better than the first because of the character development. I love a story when you get a chance to receive it from both characters POV...I think it only enhances it. There have been teasers issued in alternative POV & I'm squeeling about them!

I, for one, would not be put off by this different approach at all. It would enhance it nicely, given the anticipated reveal as we (hopefully) get to the nitty bits of Sebastian..yum!

Jan I would love for the final book in the trilogy in mostly Sebastian's POV. There are too many books that are in the female POV, would love for most of the book to be in the male POV. I am one of the few that prefer a book to be in the male POV. It is the first time a woman can be in a mans mind without being scared.

message 3: by Vicki (new)

Vicki I would love for the final or at least parts of it to be from his POV. Especially with the cliffy you left us with after book two. :)

message 4: by Chris (new)

Chris I would love it, I just can't wait to read it. I so loved the first two.

B Love that you are considering this!! I NEED to get inside that boys head. Sooo many unanswered questions. I think giving readers snippets inside Sebastains head could still maintain his mystery but dual points of view would be pretty sweet too. I definitely think you could pull it off ;)

message 6: by April (new)

April I think it's a great idea to switch. I really enjoy books that gives the male's POV!

message 7: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine I've read the first two books... and to be honest I would love to have Sebastian's POV. Mostly b/c it would help to fully understand the depth of his feelings and inner turnmoils.

message 8: by Bj (new)

Bj I loved the first two books. I would like to have some parts from his POV but not the whole book. Thanks for asking for your reader's opinions. The books are awesome.

message 9: by Tt (new)

Tt Do it! Yes! That will be great! I always love to hear diff pov's and his would really add so much to the series!

message 10: by Chele (new)

Chele Yes, please give us Sebastian's POV!

message 11: by Bj (new)

Bj By the way, when are you going to publish the third book?

message 12: by Michelle (new)

Michelle I would love an entire book from S. pov!!!!! Thanks for asking for our input!!!!!

message 13: by April (new)

April Beach I always have enjoyed seeing the other perspective in the end. I liked this in Walking Disaster, This Girl, and Midnight Sun. It makes it absolutely complete for me and I love that feeling. I haven't read this series but if you did write the last from his POV, this would be a guaranteed read for me.

message 14: by Lisa (new)

Lisa I would definitely love to have some insight to Sebastian's thoughts and feelings. I think that adding his POV would definitely add character depth and make the third book even better.

Lisa *-* GiViNg It To YoU * LoCk StOcK & TwO SmOkiNg BaRrELs DO IT, DO IT, DO IT!!
WOULD LOVE TO GET INTO SEBASTIAN'S NAUGHTY THOUGHTS.

message 16: by Marilyn (new)

Marilyn I think that would be great! Sebastian is such a fascinating and mysterious character...I would love to see things from his point of view during the final book rather than having an entirely separate book showcasing this! Can't wait!:-)

message 17: by R (new)

R P Wow, that's a toss up question for me. I loved getting to know Sebastian's character more in depth by their interactions as his development does shine thru this way. And I personally have a hard time switching once a series has been written one style and not the other.

With that being said, a few chapters with his perspective would be interesting. IE: Maybe Sabastian's POV with conversations between him and Thomas....

message 18: by Indy (new)

Indy YES! Would love to see inside that sexy head of his! This was successful in The Blackstone Affair series, really gave it an additional dimension.

message 19: by Melinda (new)

Melinda I think it sounds like a great idea! I love when you get a glimpse later on as to what was/is going on inside the other person's head (Kind of like at the end of the 50 shades of grey trilogy where certain scenes were re-told through the eyes of Christian). I cannot WAIT to learn all Sebastian's secrets!!

message 20: by Kay (new)

Kay Davison I think it would be great to get a glimpse into Sebastian's mind. He has been such a mystery so far.
I loved the first two books, the second left me hanging, wanting more and made me angry that the third one doesn't come out until July. :-) I couldn't even find any place to preorder.

message 21: by Sebu (new)

Sebu Great idea. Go for it! And, hurry up please :-)

message 22: by Hengy (new)

Hengy Etebar Maya - NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, IT WOULD BE AWESOME. THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL BOOKS. I CANNOT WAIT TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS WITH THOSE 2.

THANKS AGAIN - HENGY

Kaleigh Maya-

I must agree with most of the previous comments, that I for one would be ecstatic to read from Sebastian's POV, whether your decided to write it as a last chapter or maybe even as a whole book would be great, either way I think it would be a wonderful idea and everyone that has read this story thus far would be extremely excited!
