Serial ebook?

Recently I finished writing the first half of "Mists of Palenque" about the four great queens of this famous ancient Maya city. It covers the lives of the first two queens (rulers). Discussing it with my ebook publisher, he suggested publishing the book as a series, one queen at a time. When its finished the entire four sections would be available as ebook or paperback. What do you think? I this a good idea? I'm going to a writers conference in Cannon Beach in June, and will consult about my book and this series idea.
