My First Week Here

It has been interesting and typical of my overall Web experience to be here and immerse myself as best I can on this important site.

Epinions, Themestream, Associated Content, Wordpress, Blogger, Twitter. These are just a few of the writing sites I have immersed myself on from the start. Themestream is gone though it was a wonderful concept. Epinions has made commerce its main thrust. Associated Content was a major commitment that went south when Yahoo decided they did not like eccentric forms of content and original graphics they could not relate to. (Interestingly, Yahoo is now buying Tumblr!) I still have blogs at Wordpress and Blogger and between them they contain thousands of posts I've written over time.

I see the Web as utterly new. The actual growth of the Web is nothing compared to the ultimate reach and impact the entire reality of cyberspace will eventually have. This is the Web's century, just as the last century was world wars, cars and oil.

In my first week I have acquired a lot of friends, found a philosophy forum and been impressed by the ease with which it all seems to work. Just now I began to go through book recommendations and to start buying a few books. I am a Kindle addict and take mine with me (I have a simple early Kindle and a Fire my brother gave me) as I wander my neighborhood which includes many places to hang out and read.

All told, I am a happy camper here and my hope is to make a contribution over time.
