I noticed from a few of my reviews that my book's description was confusing some people. Sorry! As a reader, I hate being jarred out of a story because an initial impression proves incorrect, especially when there's no good reason for that. So I've edited the description.
This will cause my giveaway to be paused for a short time, which is why I've extended the entry period by a week.
The confusion highlights one of the things I love about SF/F readers: we're open-minded, ready to give any premise a try. In the description, my early use of the word leopard without quotation marks led some readers to believe Amandine was a human/cat hybrid or a shapeshifter. She's not.
Amandine is human. She has a mutation that caused some spots and streaks on her skin. People with this condition are called "leopards." Because, you know. Spots.
Ironically, my next book will have a shapeshifter in it and will straddle the boundary between science fiction and fantasy because of that. Angel on the Ropes however, is science fiction.
Many thanks to those readers whose honesty proved so helpful. Any other questions?
