On Why You Want an Agent....
I've had a number of people ask lately WHY a writer wants an agent, or even why I specifically want/need one if I am one.
Here's a quick and dirty list:
1) Your agent will shape your material into the best damn book possible, thus getting you the best damn deal possible. I've sold a book without an agent. To summarize my experience, I've had readers tell me that my self-published book was more polished, more professional, and more readable and enjoyable than the book I sold to a traditional publisher without an agent.
I am seeking an agent now for my other novels because I want my books to be the best they can be, reach the widest audience, and produce a profit.
