I couldn’t really say…some people say that they found the actual book to be quite separate from his real life opinions all the way up to the end. I found the later books to be increasingly unrewarding to read, regardless of his political stance. I ended up admiring the page layouts more than being involved in the story.
I think Jaka’s Story was pretty great, so I can suggest reading up to that point for sure, and then it’s a personal choice whether to keep going. A lot of people have separated the artist from the art, and a lot of others choose not to buy the books because they believe doing so supports a hardcore misogynist.
It really is a personal choice. I think some of the earlier books are among the best comics ever produced in North America. But I have my eyes wide open about Sim and his opinions. It’s a tough call.
