It has been almost a year now since my trip to Alaska. I was reminded of it recently when I came upon a little poem that I found while cleaning out some travel brochures. Since there seems to be little interest in my poetry, I thought I would start posting poems from other sources to include in my blog. This particular poem is by famous author and poet “Anonymous.” Here it is.
ALASKA STATE BIRD
Way up North where the sun never sets
The Alaska state birds rise up from their nests
From marshes and lakes and from rivers and creeks
Come hordes of the beasts with their sharp pointy beaks
Humming and buzzing and flying around
The only thing worse than their bite is their sound
All you can do if you can’t find your spray
Is get down on your knees and begin to pray!
Alaska was beautiful and although I had many encounters with their “State Bird,” I managed to survive. Until next time, take care! Marc
