A Letter Makes Me Happy

Just got this in my inbox.

I’m having kind of a rough day, I’m behind on some things, a water line just broke under the cement in our driveway, so we are without water until someone can dig the whole thing up and replace the entire line, bleah.

Then I got this lovely note and things are better.

Dear Gail Simone,
I live in a rural area without any comic shops. In fact, I live in Switzerland where comics mostly mean Tintin and Asterix, and not everyone speaks English anyway. So it’s hard to get comics at all and quite impossible to get paper copies of monthly issues. Yet I kept reading about the movement on your tumblr and it sounded so amazing I was incredibly frustrated to be missing in on it.

So last weekend, after a 5 hour train journey, I arrived in Paris where I quite literally ran to the comic book stores and bought the first issue of the movement (along with many other things). As for the romantic weekend I had planned with my boyfriend, let’s just say I’m lucky he considers cuddling up while reading and discussing comics to be the peak of romance. The movement was an amazing read -definitely worth the trip in my eyes - and I can’t wait to read more. Really, I just wanted to say thank you because this whole trip was the most fun I had in a long time, and because the enjoyment I get from reading what you write is priceless.

If I ever make it to a comicon, I shall bring you chocolate but for now, words will have to do.

Love from the préalpes fribourgeoises,
Lucille
