My First Harvest and Other Fun Stuff + A Little R & R Wednesdays Linky Party

Get a load of our cat. Seriously. Does anyone have a caption for this picture.
His name is kitty.  Original, I know.

Do not be fooled by his seeming innocence.

This cat is the strangest cat I've ever know.  I may end up borrowing Patrick F. McMannus' name for his dog and just name our cat "Strange".  It would be fitting.
Kitty adopted us.  When we moved here he was a stray that would fly through air at record speeds at the sight of any humanoid.  But, I had faith in my abilities to tame him, and kept leaving food out.  Little by little I got closer and closer...then I finally got to pet him, and finally pick him up.  When I picked him up, he fell in love.  Deeply in love.
Someone needs to tell our cat that feline's are meant to be independent and repressed emotionally.  This cat adores us.  By "adores" I mean that this cat never stops rubbing all over our legs, is under our feet. I have nearly gone head over heals a number of times because of our cat's "attachment" issues. But moving on.
Our first harvest!!!  Butter lettuce, rucola lettuce and green onion.

By the way, did you know that with these leafy greens, you can restore their crispness by letting them soak in a sink of ice cold water?  Here is some spinach from my mother-in-law's garden.

And look at my husband's handiwork.  He built that fence out of pallets.
I feel a pallet pin coming on soon!

Here is more of that fence down the side of our drive.

Future flower beds

and the man himself at work!

And his big "helpers"
