Well, it’s time for us to act. It’s time to turn back to God. It’s time to repent. And believe it or not, even with our long list of sins and confessions, there still remains the opportunity for us to be fully restored to God.
Acts 3:19-20 says “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you–even Jesus.”
I love that beautiful picture of repentance. Rather than being the harsh, painful, freedom-robbing process that it has been made out to be, repentance is a rewarding process that promises to bring us times of refreshing from more intimacy with Jesus.
Repentance doesn’t take life away, it gives it.
Repentance doesn’t steal joy, it increases it.
Repentance doesn’t inhibit freedom, it enhances it.
And all throughout the Scriptures repentance is never given as an option or a suggestion. It’s always a command. If you and I are serious about following Jesus, then we’re going to have to get serious about repentance.
