Houston, we have a problem...
Greetings everyone!!
Boy howdy, what a week. Too bad I can't go back in time, hind site is always 20/20. This week my computer decided to time warp back 4 days. I'm still unsure exactly what happened but I had been writing chapter 12 of Secret of the Crystal: Destiny Wednesday night and had spent hours over the last 4 days getting this section just right. Friday night, I finished and wrapped up the first 5 pages to the chapter, saved the file and closed it down.
Saturday morning I open up my document only to find that the last 5 pages were missing. Horrified, I check for my auto backup file and it was gone as well..."hmmmm, what is this?" I said.
I investigated further, and discovered that other than web pages and email, there were no files on my computer that had been updated since the 19th.
Let's just say that Saturday was a big bummer for me. I had it just right and thought how can I possibly recreate this exactly the way I had it?
So I sat down in the afternoon, after the shock was finally over and I lost all hope of recovering, and began trying to duplicate what I had written... Well, that didn't go exactly the way I had planned. I thought to myself, what am I going to do?
Writers are not infallible, were human too... although some would disagree ;-) The best thing I could do was to put it aside and relax. All of my family and friends were telling me, "Just write it again and it will better than it was" they said.
There comes a time when a writer needs to put away pride and just write. Trusting my writing ability and knowing that it will be OK, I will make better than it was before. Sorry, didn't mean to make it sound cheep like the 6 million dollar man, but I have to move on and recover from this set back.
I could have been much worse, and I have taken extra steps to prevent future disasters. Dusting feet off and moving on... Secret of the Crystal: Destiny will turn out better than I had planned,
