Gail, which series do you think will be more fun to write, The Movement or Red Sonja?
HA! This is a tricky question.
“Fun to write” usually has more to do with the environment I am writing in than the actual book’s content. If I am writing a book, I generally find something to love about the characters, and once I love the characters, writing them makes me happy. There are VERY few books I have written that I do not miss once I have quit writing them. I still miss Deadpool, I still miss the Killer Princesses.
However, other factors can raise or lower the fun factor—if the artist is not a great match, how the editors handle the book, that sort of thing, all of that factors in. The difference between two assignments may be simply the editorial approach, that can really be a huge factor.
In both Red Sonja and the Movement, I am BLESSED with editors who trust me and let me write what I want, the way I know the stories should be told. I believe it is resulting in outrageously entertaining stories. That’s what makes me happiest.
If I break it down…I love writing team books, point to Movement. But I adore writing in a whole new genre, point goes to Red Sonja.
I don’t know, but writing both makes me SERIOUSLY happy.
Sorry, that’s a crap answer, but it’s true, I love both a lot.
