How I Came to write Carrie’s Story: the condensed version

What do you do if you’re a little confused by the turns your erotic fantasy life is taking? This is what I told Wallace Baine, art editor of the Santa Cruz Sentinel yesterday.


I decided to write it all down and see if it came out as evil. It didn’t. It came out as funny. Carrie is ultimately funny, curious and intellectually brave. And that’s really what I wanted to write.
