Paul’s Missionary Methods: In His Time and Ours

Reasons I recommend Paul’s Missionary Methods: In His Time and Ours as a helpful book for missions students or missionary practitioners:

1. Rarely do you find a book that effectively brings together the disciplines of biblical studies and missiology as this book does.

2. Contributors to this book are some the best thinkers in their respective fields: Michael Bird, Craig Keener, Eckhard Schnabel, Ben Merkle, David Hesselgrave, David Sills, Ed Stetzer, etc.  The writers are luminaries in New Testament studies and missiology.

3. Much missiological writing is fadish.  This book, however, is grounded in both the Scriptures and in a retrospective glance at a classic missionary text by Roland Allen, Paul’s Missionary Methods: St. Paul’s or Ours?

4. The book has been well-received by early readers and reviewers.  For example, see this blog post from Justin Taylor, who links to a full-length PDF of Craig Keener’s chapter on spiritual warfare and missions.
