Forgot to say, since the comments are locked on the blog : thank you for your honesty, Patrick. It's no fun right now to know we'll have to wait that long, but it's still good to have a date, and be able to rejoice in advance!
::BIG TOOTHY GRINS!!!!!!::Way to go, Pat. Major accomplishment, surpassed only by your successful relationship, living to be the age you are, making Oot...um, well, lots of things. But still, way to go!!!
Congrats on getting to this stage of the writing Pat! I know it can't be easy. After waiting for 3 years for this info, I can't help and think, "What's another year?" I'm just happy it has a date. By this point I'm glad it's going to be perfect for the waiting rather than something dashed off like the origional 2008 release. Koodos on... well just being you.
Fantastic - congratulations!!! Thank you for sharing - as a librarian who passes out your book a LOT, I am very excited to be able to spread the word of a release date for Wise Man's Fear!!
This is great news, and I'll be happy to read The Wise Man's Fear next year. Now I have time to plan a reread of Kvothe's Day One . . . Yay!
I just love that we know when it is coming out. I would rather it be the best book so thanks for the update.
This just made me depressed about NOT having a date for the next GRRM book. I'd always rather know when, even if it's a long way off, then constantly wonder, which creates false hopes (i.e., if he finishes it in june, maybe it can still be out this year!). Good luck with the wrapping up!
It is a really long waiting period. But honestly, I rather read a book the author is happy with than a book he somehow finished to keep in line with publishing dates. I can imagine that the pressure after a success like "Name of the wind" is huge and does not lessen with the passing of time. But I am confident that someone who wrote a book like "Name of the wind" should be given the time he needs and his book is worth waiting for.
Yay! It showed up again. Now I have a date to tell my mom. She just read Name of the Wind last week, and she was telling me she was going to go pick up the sequel. I had to convince her that the sequel really wasn't out yet even though Name of the Wind came out in 2007. She's not a fantasy reader normally, so she doesn't know how these things work. As for me, yay!
I'm not going to lie. This bothers me.I have addicted 3-4 other people to The Name of the Wind, and as the source of aforementioned novels discovery, it has befallen my shoulders to explain to them — daily — where the next book is and why it's taking so long.
They are going to flay me when they hear this, Patrick. Flay me.
You know, I honestly don't mind if several people need to pick up and amphetamine habit to get this done earlier. It'll save my skin... literally.
Because of the flaying.
This sucks. Thanks for the info though. It's not like I don't have a billion other things to read in the meantime. Hopefully we'll get to see this in March!

Horrors! It leads nowhere! What a tease.
