I think the art of focus isn't an aspect of creative talent. (That's my excuse anyway.)

I find the more I try to focus on something that my creative mind isn't trying to focus on the harder it gets. If I try to force it I end up with four hours of writing time spent and only three paragraphs. Then a couple days later I scrap those three paragraphs cause they don't flow.
You'd laugh if you honestly knew how pieced-together my books are. A scene haunts me, and I write it down. Another flashes through my mind, and I scribble it on a sticky note. Something else comes to my head, and so I jot it in a notebook. Then I type all these scenes in a document with empty spaces that eventually get filled in with writing that connects those moments of creative inspiration. Finally, when it's all patched together, I have a book! Crazy, huh?
That is a little crazy. If i'm writing non fiction I usually can just go chapter by chapter and things go well. My Fiction usually comes in spurts and I end up with a hundred little scenes that I try to stitch together. Hence why I haven't yet to produce a fiction title. Mostly cause you can't go from Modern times to Sci-fi in the same book let alone chapter. My office looks like someone invented a sticky note bomb and set it off on my desk. Come to think of it I don't even know what color paint is on the wall.
Lol! I'm a sticky-note addict too, but not THAT bad! I can see my white wall. I have them plastered all around my computer screen while I write--reminders and portions to insert in a piece. It's always a thrill for me when I can peel a sticky note off and tuck it away in an envelope because I DON'T NEED IT ANYMORE!!! Woo hoo! Yes, I keep all my jotted notes--my collection.
