Plunging into the sequel ...

I'm now writing A PLAY OF SHADOW, which picks up the characters and story from A TURN OF LIGHT not long after the events of TURN. I don't have to start with new worldbuilding.
That will come, however.
In the meantime, with my ::cough:: newfound confidence as a fantasy writer, I'm no longer indulging in limitless creative time -- or space, for that matter. Hence a deadline to finish, one similar to my previous books', and a more pragmatic approach to the research.
What do I mean by pragmatic? I'm leaving notes to myself within the narrative to look things up later, as necessary, rather than break the writing to hunt up facts. Obviously, if I must know something before sketching the scene -- and to construct the new portion of the world we meet in PLAY, I'll go find it, but hopefully I will get most of the storyline down first. This was a writerly tip from Ed Greenwood, who writes very quickly and well.
With Reunification, I hope to catch up some of the time spent on TURN by writing the three volumes as one project. It's a plan. We'll see how PLAY responds to my renewed vigour and the return of deadline-mind. So far, so good.
The dragon's already up to mischief. Mayhem can't be far behind, surely.
