"What an unfortunate place for my face to freeze." - Patrick Rothfuss (Lol!). Very happy to wake up to this blog post and video of you, short as the actual writing portion may be. Such a big fan! I'm watching it right now from my iPad and commenting from my phone. :P

[SPOILER FOR ANYONE ABOUT TO WATCH THIS] AHHH!! You're a Skyrim fan?! That was the only game I played for a whole year!! What was your build?! So cool! I love you even more.
You're writing a game?! Okay. I need to stop live-commenting. Now going to respond in list format so as not to flood your feed.- It was written BEFORE Harry Potter?! I'm sorry I ever made that comparison. Wow. /FanGirling harder.
- Glad to hear you mentioning Cyrano since you literally just mentioned it in a review. I agree that fantasy gets pretty "samey" after a while (although you've clearly read way more fantasy than I have).
- So many laugh-out-loud moments. Like when you're discussing Omethi's original name, haha.
- I was so intent on watching this interview that I just now bumped my head very hard on the corner of my book shelf bending down without looking to reach for a pen I'd stored at the bottom of it. I will bill you later for my hospital fees.
- So sorry to hear about your Mom... I call my parents often for fear of something just like your experience happening to me.
- Oh noooo! You have a girlfriend. Sorry, ladies.
- "Are all of the scenes in there? ... He's thinking." LOL.
- "Pearls are definitely sexier than coral." Lol.
Okay. I had to the pause the interview at 1:12:20 because you're discussing spoilers now, and I haven't finished Wise Man's Fear yet, but thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview, Patrick! Trey is a buddy of mine as well, and I'm glad to hear he loves your books just as much as I do so far. Great job! Looking forward to participating in your next World Builders event. :)
Pat's interviews are always entertaining, but this one was particularly wonderful. Such a lot of ground was covered (from games to audio books to the future of the Storyboard hangouts to a possible TV adaptation to Whedon to the tentative title for the third book and then I'm still probably forgetting more than half of it).
Looking forward to the short stories and novellas and new episodes of The Storyboard. I'm very glad to hear the hangouts will probably continue even if they will not necessarily be on Geek and Sundry anymore!
Great interview!I've really missed the Story Board hangout this month. So I'm very glad to hear that it's continuing!
Really interesting interview!I'm about to start playing Skyrim in a couple of days, but I'm kind of at sea after your review though. LOL.
Also you talked about how you tried to steer clear of corny names and I have to say that you hit the bull's eye, indeed!
One of my favorite ones is The Eolian. That's just perfect!

Skyrim is a great atmospheric sandbox with an OK story for its mainquest. It's skill system and interface (on PC) however royally suck. Still an awesome game IMO.
If you're playing on PC make sure to install the Unofficial Skyrim Patch from the Steamworkshop. It fixes a boatload of bugs, and will greatly reduce things like broken quests and odd NPC behaviour.

Since I really had a lot of fun playing Morrowind and Oblivion I'm not likely to miss the Skyrim chapter as well. I'm going to play it on PS3. Thanks anyway for the hint ;)
I've been a fan since i read book 1 in 2009, and I have to say that your series is absolutely brilliant. I just recently found your blog when I was recommending your books to a friend. Somehow your blog entries are almost as entertaining as your books. It just shows that interesting books are written by interesting people. The friend was quite interested to discover that you had been an undergrad for so long since she is in a similar situation. I loved your version of a dragon. I included it in a paper I wrote (in high school) which compared dragon legends to the kinds of dragons in todays stories, I had Rowling's and Paolini's dragons mentioned in the same context.
I don't quite know where I was going with this anymore but basically, I am a huge fan and you are at the top of my recommendation list. Congratulations on achieving what so many aspiring authors dream of.
