Scott Lobdell did not write that dialogue. It was written by the guy who did the dialogue for that issue, Josh Williamson, who is very well regarded for his independent work. I’ve met him, he seems like a very decent guy.

He says that when his wife divorced him, she said those words to him, and they stuck with him and he put them in the comic. He was completely unaware that they came from a book at all.

A sad situation. Makes me feel sad to hear it.
