After a hectic schedule of editing outsourced work,
I settle down to my first love; writing.
We're off and running with another crime-slash-comedy novel.Anna's keen to get her nose dirty ...

My Rickety Metronome

Many pseudonyms ingratiate my days. To the closely acquainted I’m known as Anna, and to a small minority, Princess. Occasionally and without complaint, I bear the title Mrs. Muddy, and to two little girls I’m simply Mum. To the bad of this world I am Detective Sergeant Anna Murdoch, a title often expanded upon by the excessively rotten — those with limited literacy skills and even less manners — by the application of The Pig Bitch. I boast a 98.3% solve rate for homicide cases, play the guitar with little skill and the piano no more impressively. I’m a closet book-sniffer and devour well written novels by the dozen, my preference being the classics. I suffer a minor obsessive compulsive disorder, an unbreakable habit of scrunching up my toes when overtaking yellow cars, and from where this quirky habit is sourced may forever remain a mystery. Orange is my favourite colour, camembert cheese my indulgence and sauvignon blanc my weakness. Monday marks the start of the working week for some. Not for my kind. As a member of Victoria Police’s Homicide Squad, I have little understanding of a weekend or a public holiday. I seldom experience the joy of two consecutive rest days or an early knockoff time. For my kind, life rarely pauses and when it does, it’s indiscriminate in its choosing. But none of that matters at this point.            One particular Monday, the Monday which begins my tale, marked a change I did not see coming.
