Monday Game of Thrones thoughts

1. The moment I started rooting for Jaime Lannister (was it in book 2? book 3? hard to recall) was the moment I knew I’d be a GRRM fan for life.

2. Those of you who are interested in the hero’s journey, pay close attention to Dany. Her advisers are saying, here are your choices: It has to be A or B. Remember this next week at which time I will discuss The Thing That Made Me Most Furious About Suckerpunch (remember Suckerpunch?).

3. I was unnerved by just how vicious and nasty the language used against Dany was getting. (I know the sneer was intentional, but it felt almost indulgent. Or maybe it was because it arrived on the rounded heels of all that gratuitous Pod the Rod nudity). But I’ve decided it will all be worth it in the end. And there was something very interesting happening with the act of translation and the ideas of respect, worth, and visibility.

4. Littlefinger has gotten jolly to the point of chortle. It’s sort of hilarious to see him going all Vizzini on us, even if everyone else is drinking the iocane powder.
