Top Five Nemesis Words

snidely-whiplash-evil-genius

While writing last night on Quest for Milo, I once again stumbled into the grasp of my number one Nemesis Word. Perhaps I should explain what a Nemesis Word is. A Nemesis Word is a word that you always, no matter how many times you write it down, misspell. (Note: this definition and creation of ‘nemesis word’ is entirely fictional, simply created for the amusement of myself…)

Anyway, I asked my mates on FB what their Nemesis Word was and it was so much fun to bat them around and I realized that I don’t have just one Nemesis Word as many of theirs give me trouble, too. So I figured why not a top ten (or in this case, top five) list to showcase the foes that lay in wait in the corners of my keyboard.

1. Immediately. It never fails. Even when I think really, really hard of how to spell it, I misspell it.

2. Parallel. I misspell this one SO badly that spell check is utterly bamboozled.

3. Nemesis. Oddly enough.

4. Restaurant. It’s a good thing I don’t have to write ‘restaurant’ very often in my medieval-ish time period. Good ol’ pubs and inns.

5. Medieval. Yep. It snagged me pretty good at number 4.

There are more, but why showcase my lack of spelling skill? What are your Nemesis Words? Or are you one of those Word Conquerors who never misspells anything? I envy you, my friend. I envy you.
