If that face had been a man's, you'd have had applause, but you would still have had people riding you because they believe in the establishment. This is my feeling.
I understand and appreciate the kinds of pressures women undergo in society, and I'm not downplaying this aspect. I'm simply responding to how you, the author, had intended the post. I'm the one who's sorry that aspect hadn't been explored by the other readers. Regardless of what is done and said, you are a good man in my book. Keep Writing!

I'm sure this was a learning experience though. It has to be an odd thing to suddenly be read by strangers, when you're so used to close friends and family being your only fans. Take it as a sign of celebrity. You can't make everyone happy! And though this probably seems like THE WORST THING EVER right now, by next week, the bloggers will have moved on to their next target, and you'll still be here writing and thrilling readers :)

I knew that post was tongue in cheek, but it's a fact that humor doesn't always come across well in writing. Add to that people without any sense of humor, and you have a mess. So, you're not perfect. I can't help but think about casting first stones and all, but those offended types don't care to hear such things.
It'll pass, Hugh. Don't take it too personally - you are just this week's target. The group will shuffle on to someone else's yard next week.
