A-Z: Jinn

A - Z Challenge 2013: The Paranormal Case Files of Indigo Eady   Hey bloggers! I’m Indigo Eady and I play the leading role in Givin’ Up The Ghost, A Guilty Ghost Surprised and Second Death, written by Gwen Gardner.  I've had some pretty interesting paranormal experiences, to say the least. I mean, just look at those titles! So I’ve been asked by Gwen to host and share some of my paranormal case files for the A-Z Challenge. I’m always happy to help Gwen out. Right now I’m trying to get on her good side so she’ll ease up on the clumsy angle of my character. And maybe she’ll even give me a little more confidence, especially around boys. Oh, and I’d totally love it if she made my bubble butt just a little bit smaller. So—you know—if you enjoy my case files, maybe you could put in a good word for me…********************  J is for Jinn. Some people think Jinn are interchangeable with genies, but they’re not. Genies grant wishes—jinn don’t. Not that I think genies are real, mind you. But jinn are a very real possibility. I knew a little about them from my grandmother, my mother’s mother, who was an elder in the Viejas band of Kumeyii Indians. She knew a lot about the supernatural and used to tell me stories. I looked Jinn up not that long ago because, well, okay this is going to sound crazy. We have a ghost cat named Cleo, so named because just like the famous Cleopatra, she’s gorgeous, is manipulative and she likes men. I don’t have a big head, really I don’t. But I got suspicious because most animals really like me - Cleo doesn’t.
So here's a breakdown of my research:

1) Our kitchen is specially protected so ghosts can’t enter—but Cleo can. 2) Jinn have the ability to appear in animal or human form—Cleo’s a cat.
 3) If Jinn like you, they’ll follow you around—Cleo sticks like glue to Simon.4) If you disappoint her, as in a lack of bravery, she’ll torment you—hasn’t happened yet, but...
5) If you impress her by acting brave, she’ll disappear and nothing will be left but ash—this definitely hasn’t happened yet.

6) Jinn are said to be made from fire—Cleo intentionally rubs against you, causing static electricity to spark and zap you whenever you touch anything - could be she's working her way up to fire...

7) The highest of the jinn is said to be the devil—I’m still on the fence on this one - Cleo could be a she-devil.

So it’s looking like Cleo really is a ghost cat with some Jinn qualities. But as far as I’m concerned, the jury’s still out.  What about you? Are there any Jinn in your life?
