Excerpt:

Bergen strode over and peered in the drawer. “Ah, indeed.” He frowned. “So you’re not a fan of creepy crawlies, Taylor?”

Not wanting the older, handsome man to see him cowering for a second time in as many weeks, Taylor straightened up and took a couple of hesitant steps toward the desk, trying to appear more self-assured. He didn’t want Bergen to think he was a wuss. “Not so much.”

Taylor felt a warm hand squeeze his shoulder. He liked the feel of Bergen’s hand. His touch was firm but not overpowering. “I can take care of it for you.” Bergen plucked the spider from the desk drawer and shoved it in his pocket.

“Thank you.” Taylor licked his lips while taking in the man’s eyes. He could get lost in their intensity. They projected compassion and maybe just a hint of desire. “I appreciate it.”

“No problem, Taylor.” Bergen gave him another squeeze before stepping back.

He wished Bergen would stay for a bit. He found the architect’s presence reassuring as though the man offered stability and strength. Taylor enjoyed the steady pulse of electricity that thrummed through his body whenever Bergen touched him, no matter how slight. As soon as Bergen released him, however, the connection ceased; Taylor found himself wanting.
