Odd Victorian Factoid#16: The flush toilet was popularized in Victorian times by a plumber named Thomas Crapper (his company had the beautiful title of: The Venerable Thomas Crapper & Company).
Oh, and in case you're wondering. The verb "to crap" was apparently in use before Crapper got into the business. Perhaps that's what drew him to plumbing...
