Be Charmed by These Bewitching Books from 2025

LibraryThing

Has anyone here tried LibraryThing? I was thinking of decamping from Goodreads (not that I've been exactly active) due to the acquisition by Amazon, and I was intrigued by this new post at the official LibraryThing blog: "What makes LibraryThing LibraryThing?"

Rachel I'm on LibraryThing; I've been using it since well before Goodreads to catalog the books I actually own (while I use GR for whatever I'm reading, whether I own it or not). I think for book cataloging, as opposed to reading and reviewing, it's a superior platform.

If you have any questions about it, I'd be happy to answer them. I'm on there as ranaverde.

Mark I'm also on LibraryThing (http://www.librarything.com/profile/m...) and have been for much longer than I've been on GR. I use them pretty much like Rachel. LT is my (and the wife's) personal catalog in that, except for a very rare exception, everything in my account is something we own or did own.

We both use GR (separate accounts) for what we've read, are reading, or want to read. We like the social aspects GR provides even if we become aware of far too many interesting sounding books. As for the social aspects, we only follow our friends and get a daily email of what they've marked to read, are reading or have finished. We do not do anything more social than that except for the rare comment on a friend's review.

LT has some, if not all, of these features but I don't feel they are as well implemented.

Dave Bonta Thanks, Mark and Rachel. It's very helpful to get the perspectives of two such long-term users of both services.
