I say New Year, You think...
Resolutions, am I right? I won’t tell you that resolutions don’t work (they don’t but that isn’t what this post is about) If you think about what that word means you resolve to… usually lose weight. Over the last year I’ve dropped 40lbs and while I am psyched about it I still need to lose about another 40lbs before I’m really happy. Let me tell you there is no magic formula! You need to find what works for you. The biggest thing is finding what your obstacles are and thinking of ways to overcome them till the new behavior becomes a habit.
I hate to exercise, okay I used to hate to exercise but now I don’t. I consider it cheap therapy -and I need my therapy! To get past it I came up with a plan I don’t have to think about. I started with just 15 minutes on the treadmill. I use an app (Lolo app) that plans my workout so I don’t have to stress about it and hey, it is only 15 minutes. I am lucky that I have my treadmill right next to my bed and yes, clothes hang on it —Exercise clothes and my sneakers so they are right where I need them. There are tons of studies showing that something as simple as putting your exercise clothes right next to your bed hugely increases your chance of actually following through on exercising.
The other thing that helps, make it fun. Like treating yourself to a new book when you do follow through.
