                                                                                  Mugabe’s Elephants

                                                                                               Anonymous

                                                                                        Livingston, Zambia

Due to the very late start to the rainy season and the lack of browse and graze in the National Park and the bush surrounding Livingstone, the town itself was invaded most nights by herds of Elephant searching for food. They walked right up the main road through the town and then fanned out into the residential suburbs looking for such delicacies as paw-paws, mangoes and guavas. Before the sun rose they moved back to the Zambezi and, under the shade of a Natal Mahogany, discussed and planned the next night’s foray into town. Of course, these Elephant crossed the river some months ago from Zimbabwe where they’ve been behaving like this for some years in the town of Victoria Falls. As a result of their bad behaviour and seemingly no one willing or able to stop them, these Elephant are referred to as ‘Mugabe’s Elephant’ or very occasionally ‘ZANU-PF Elephant’ due to their total disregard for fences, gates, humans, dogs or even land rights.. wait for My Funny Africa for the rest of the story!
