Snowe thaws: (Former) Senator joins (current) trend

Olympia Snowe, who served for eighteen years as a Republican U.S. Senator from Maine, is now coming out for marriage equality:

Snowe joins her successor, Independent Angus King, on history's right side. Unfortunately Snowe's longtime senatorial colleague, moderate Maine Republican Susan Collins, has yet to come around.
