With just one word, a top Chicana author recently left Yuma’s literary circle pretty much speechless.
Ana Castillo said “yes” to an invitation for a visit to Yuma.
“Writers of Dr. Castillo’s caliber get a lot of lucrative offers for speaking engagements,” said Prof. Richard Jahna at Arizona Western College. “I wasn’t sure we had a chance of luring her to Yuma. But we asked, and she said yes. It’s very exciting.”
Castillo comes to Yuma on Monday, April 8, bringing with her a rich literary resume as an award-winning poet, novelist, editor and playwright.
“This is a special opportunity for our community to spend time with a writer who is widely recognized as one of the most important Chicana voices of her generation and who is highly respected…”
