Progress report April 2013

It's a short report this time as I am working hard to finish the very last scenes of Caller, third book in the Shadowfell series. Caller will be published in mid-2014 (yes, publishers do work a long time ahead!)

Prickle Moon, my short story collection, will be officially released on April 4. Check out the Prickle Moon page for more about this book including how to purchase a copy. I'm really proud of Prickle Moon, which is my first publication with specialist small press Ticonderoga Publications and has a particularly lovely cover by Pia Ravenari.

Raven Flight, book 2 of the Shadowfell series, is in the publishers' hands now. It will be published in July 2013 by Pan Macmillan Australia and Knopf USA, and is available for pre-order from the major online booksellers. The Knopf edition has another striking cover by Jonathan Barkat. The Pan Macmillan cover was produced in-house and is also very evocative. We'll be putting up a Raven Flight page next month, with an excerpt.

Coming up for me: A possible trip to Sydney for the Aurealis Award ceremony in May, as Flame of Sevenwaters is a finalist in the Fantasy Novel category. I'm a guest at Supanova Sydney and Supanova Perth in June. Presenting a workshop at the Romance Writers of Australia conference in Fremantle in August. Attending World Fantasy Con in Brighton, UK in October.

Once Caller is finished, I will be starting a new adult fantasy series entitled Blackthorn and Grim. The first book is called Dreamer's Wood. It's darker than my usual, with a different kind of narrator, but has many of the same qualities including a lot of elements based on fairy tales.

Caitlin A new series? How exciting!! Is Prickle Moon available only in Australia, or will it be distributed to the US?

Hi Caitlin,

Prickle Moon will be available through the main online booksellers as soon as the publisher puts it up - that's been delayed slightly because of a minor technical hitch. But it should appear on amazon.com and other international sites soon.

all the best, Juliet

Caitlin this is so cool can't wait to get you to sign my copy of Cybele's Gift at Supernova! Also are you writing a third book to that series? If so when will it come out (roughly)

Hi Caitlin, it looks as if there won't be a third book in the Wildwood series as my American publisher wasn't keen. She asked me to start the new series (Shadowfell) instead.

all the best

Hi Cai..."

Well I think I speak for all your fans when I say we are saddened to hear the news. I love the Wildwood series and found it uniquely different from other fantasy books I've read. You are an amazingly gifted writer, and I look forward to see what else you will be creating for us to enjoy!

All the best

Emily Hi Juliet,
I just wanted to let you know that your books are incredibly beautiful. I picked up Wildwood Dancing by chance at the bookstore a few years ago and it is one of my all time favorites, and I am now enraptured by the world of Sevenwaters. Thank you, thank you, thank you, and I look forward to reading more of your work!
