Progress Report April 2013

It's a short report this time as I am working hard to finish the very last scenes of Caller, third book in the Shadowfell series. Caller will be published in mid-2014 (yes, publishers do work a long time ahead!)

Prickle Moon, my short story collection, will be officially released on April 4. For more information about this book, including how to purchase a copy, check out the Prickle Moon page on my website:
http://www.julietmarillier.com/books/...

I'm really proud of Prickle Moon, which is my first publication with specialist small press Ticonderoga Publications and has a particularly lovely cover by Pia Ravenari.

Raven Flight, book 2 of the Shadowfell series, is in the publishers' hands now. It will be published in July 2013 by Pan Macmillan Australia and Knopf USA, and is available for pre-order from the major online booksellers. The Knopf edition has another striking cover by Jonathan Barkat. The Pan Macmillan cover was produced in-house and is also very evocative. We'll be putting up a Raven Flight page on the website next month, with an excerpt.

Coming up for me: A possible trip to Sydney for the Aurealis Award ceremony in May, as Flame of Sevenwaters is a finalist in the Fantasy Novel category. I'm a guest at Supanova Sydney and Supanova Perth in June. Presenting a workshop at the Romance Writers of Australia conference in Fremantle in August. Attending World Fantasy Con in Brighton, UK in October.

Once Caller is finished, I will be starting a new adult fantasy series entitled Blackthorn and Grim. The first book is called Dreamer's Wood. It's darker than my usual, with a different kind of narrator, but has many of the same qualities including a lot of elements based on fairy tales. More about this project in due course!

Juliet As you see, I'm incapable of writing a short report ...

Tandie I'm excited to hear about your Blackthorn & Grim series. Am I way off base assuming a different kind of narrator might be a male POV?

Loved Shadowfell & anxious for Ravenflight in July. Wow, 2014 for Caller? Hopefully it's close to the beginning of the year!

Thanks for your stories. Please, never stop writing. And live a really, really long time!

Sorry, Tandie, I've been so busy writing I missed replying to a heap of comments. There are three POV characters, one female, two male, who alternate chapters. The female protagonist is not in the mould of most of my previous central characters!

Penguin US has this penciled in for November 2014.

Sheila, it's taken a while to come up on the main online booksellers' sites but I'm told it is now available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble and The Book Depository. Not sure about amazon.co.uk - I can't check from here.
